Overview

We are maintaining our focus on trading, the primary source of our profits, and seeking to optimize the value chain of each product by producing basic chemical products in locations where the raw materials are cost competitive.

Strategy

In the Commodity Chemicals Division, we will look to strengthen our trading and logistics capabilities. At the same time, we will actively develop our businesses, chiefly through upstream investments in resources and raw materials and through investments based on alliances with prominent manufacturers.
Our large-scale investments in the area of resources and raw materials include: Exportadora de Sal, S.A. de C.V., a producer of salt in Mexico; Aromatics Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., a manufacturer of raw materials for synthetic fibers and plastics in Malaysia; PT. Kaltim Parna Industri, an ammonia business in Indonesia; and Metanol de Oriente, METOR, S.A., a producer of methanol in Venezuela.
