Sekiyu Cokes Kogyo Co. Ltd. was established in September of 1960. Around that time, the Marifu Refinery of Koa Oil Co. (now Nippon Petroleum Refining Co., Ltd.) had constructed facilities for producing coke from petroleum, thereby becoming Japan's first producer of raw petroleum coke. Sekiyu Cokes Kogyou was created as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation in order to serve as the distributor for the new product.
One of the products traded by the company is needle coke, an essential material for making artificial graphite electrodes for electric furnaces. The Needle coke we handle is highly valued and its reputation is well established among electrode manufacturers around the globe.
