Mitsubishi Corporation imports liquified natural gas (LNG) produced in Alaska. It is the sole agent supplying Alaskan LNG to The Tokyo Electric Power Company, Inc. and Tokyo Gas Company, Ltd.. Recognizing the importance of LNG as a clean source of energy which could be effective in containing rising levels of pollution, MC was responsible, in 1969, for the first imports of LNG from Alaska to Japan. Since then, as contracts continue to be renewed, the Alaska Project has played a key role in coordinating the smooth and safe transfer of LNG from Alaska to Japan. Over that time, relationships have also been created, built on trust with not only the LNG purchaser but the supplier as well. The kind of expertise and the kind of relationships we have been able to build over the last thirty years form the foundation for our commitment to continuing to provide a reliable supply of Alaskan LNG to the Japanese market.
