The Technology & Business Development Department's mission is to support and advance innovation at Mitsubishi Corporation. To fulfill this role, the department's team collectively holds specialist knowledge and experience in various technologies, intellectual property, business startups, and exist strategies. The department's support platform extends beyond Mitsubishi Corporation and includes the Battelle Memorial Institute in the U.S., collaborate ventures by industry, universities and government, and venture investment funds.
In particular, Mitsubishi Corporation's has been forming close relations with Battelle Memorial Institute, a U.S.-based independent research institution since 1970. In 2006, we entered into a joint-venture with the institute and established Battelle-Japan. Battelle-Japan provides research development support to companies and works with companies to develop commercial products. It also provides management support to research institutions.
The Technology & Business Development Department is currently focused on the three fields of energy, nanotechnology and electronic industry and in these fields, it has already commenced research developments and business investments for the future.



Fullerene Project

Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) takes the initiative in commercializing Fullerenes, which are expected to be used in various applications such as electronic devices, additives and medicines for intractable disease, as well as cosmetics and fuel cells, by obtaining of composition of matter patent for Fullerenes.

TRUSTED POINT G3
A tool for preventing information leaks that features mandatory encryption. Whenever confidential files are edited, saved under different names or accessed with "cut and paste" functions, the information is automatically encrypted, thereby preventing leaks resulting from both errors in operation and malicious acts by authorized users, which are said to be the greatest causes of internal leaks. |
