Creating New Energy for Tomorrow >
Concerns are growing over global warming and there is now increasing awareness of the shortage of energy resources. The New Energy & Environment Business Division, which was formed in April 2007, is working to develop new business models that will help to resolve the various problems facing mankind. These business models include new energy resources and emission credit trading that will counter global warming, as well as the recycling of water and other resources.

Tackling Global Water Problems >
The global population continues to grow despite the limited supply of water suitable for human use. Problems with future water supplies will continue to be an issue of concern along with food supplies and energy. Water services, in particular, have grown increasingly important, covering everything from water resource development, water purification methods and water supplies, to wastewater treatment and recycling. MC is involved in a successful water business in the Philippines, following the privatization of this industry.

Restoring the Natural Environment at Post-Mining Sites >
A country with scant natural reserves of its own, must import resources from overseas. However mining operations have inherent environmental considerations, and the rehabilitation measures of disused facilities are critical steps that need to be taken as part our commitment to the environment. MC ensures that its mining activities in ferrous raw materials in Australia are conducted in harmony with local communities and the natural environment, both before and after the mining operations.
