“Crossroads and Contrasts” — no words better define our corner of the world. Set on one of the world's oldest geographic formations is one of Venezuela's newest cities' — Ciudad Guayana. Created in the early 1960s, Ciudad Guayana is now the nation's heavy industry center. The city is located between two towns, the historic San Felix with its Spanish fort, and Puerto Ordaz, the gateway to the Guiana Highlands, home of the world famous Angels Falls.
Ciudad Guayana is located at the point where two great rivers converge-the Orinoco and the Caroni. Four hydroelectric dams have been built along the Caroni, including Guri, the biggest, and Macagua, which is located in the city.
