The ports of Myanmar are administrated by the Myanmar Port Authority (MPA) under the Ministry of Transport. Among the ports of Myanmar, Yangon Port is the nation's premier port, handling about 90% of the country's exports and virtually all of its imports. Yangon Port is located on the Yangon River, 32 kilometers inland from the Gulf of Martaban. In order to ensure sufficient depths at two sand bars along the route, navigation to Yangon harbor is generally best during a rising tide (the time between the low water and the high water).
Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) established good relations with MPA through our cooperation in supplying two Rubber Tyre Gantry Cranes. Then, when sand bars began creating navigation problems for foreign vessels heading to Yangon Port, MPA asked MC to extend our support to Port Management by supplying dredgers, together with a financing package, at the earliest possible date of delivery. MC successfully fulfilled this request, thereby helping to support the logistics development of the country. MPA was able to resolve their problems with the two dredgers we supplied and MPA appreciated MC's support. The dredgers are still working efficiently and MPA's development of waterways is right on track.

Myanmar is a Buddhist country and people here love to travel around to famous pagodas. Myanmar's most popular pilgrimage destination is Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda, which is located a 160-kilometer drive from Yangon.
Visitors to Kyaikhtiyo will see a golden boulder shaped like a man's head capped with a 6-meter high gilded pagoda. The “Golden Rock Pagoda”, which is said to be over 2,400 years old, rests precariously on the edge of a high cliff, but never falls off. According to legend, a sacred hair of Buddha is enshrined here, and Buddhists firmly believe that a visit to the pagoda will bring good health and fortune.

Thanakhar and longyi are two significant symbols of Myanmar.
Thanakhar is a traditional cosmetic that women apply to their faces, arms and legs. This beige-colored paste, which is made from bark of the thanakhar tree, prevents sunburn and controls oiliness. It has been used here for over 2000 years.
Longyi is a traditional garment worn by both men and women in Myanmar. It consists of a cylindrical tube made from a single piece of cloth. Longyi are very well-suited to Myanmar's tropical weather. Nowadays, traditional longyi are popular as formal wear for official receptions and weddings.
