BGCI

BGCI is the world's largest network working for plant conservation, environmental education and sustainable development. BGCI works on an international scale to conserve plant diversity for the well-being of people and the planet, and to raise awareness of the importance of plants as one of the earth's greatest natural resources.

BGCI works in partnership on practical projects, builds capacity by providing resources and training, and arranges international congresses to support plant conservation.

BGCI has also worked closely with Mitsubishi Corporation Tokyo, with regard to establishing an East Asia Botanic Garden Network to support plant conservation and botanic gardens across the region.

The MCFEA is continuing its core support of BGCI in 2009, which it has supported since 1993.

This year's grant of £5,000 brings the MCFEA's total donations to BGCI since 1993 to over £125,000.
