IUCN

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is a global organization dedicated to natural resource conservation. IUCN's goal is to find pragmatic solutions to the most pressing environment and development challenges.

It works on biodiversity, climate change, energy, human livelihoods and greening the world economy by supporting scientific research, managing field projects all over the world, and bringing governments, NGOs, the UN, and the private sector together to develop policy, laws and best practice. IUCN has over 1,000 staff in 60 offices.

Within its broader efforts to help green the world economy, IUCN engages in a dedicated Business and Biodiversity Programme (BBP) that builds bridges between the private sector and the conservation community. In 2011 and 2012, the MCFEA partnered with IUCN to help develop its Business and Biodiversity Programme in east and southern Africa with a view to strengthening capacity to seize market and business opportunities in support of conservation in the region.
