WaterAid is a leading independent organization which enables the world's poorest people to gain safe access to water, sanitation and hygiene education.

WaterAid works in Africa, Asia and the Pacific region and campaigns globally with its partners to realize their vision of a world where everyone has access to these basic human rights.

From 2003 to 2009, the MCFEA supported WaterAid on a project in Niassa province in Mozambique. This project provided the infrastructure needed to improve the area's water supply and public sanitation, helping make a fundamental difference to the health and quality of life of local people. Subsequently, the MCFEA also supported WaterAid's work in Maputo, Mozambique, over a number of years, delivering sanitation and hygiene promotion activities to a combined population of over 100,000 people.

From 2013 to 2015, the MCFEA continued its partnership with WaterAid by committing to support a project promoting access to water and sanitation in Ethiopia.
