Our activities focus on raw materials that are used in many of the goods we encounter in everyday life, including plastics, functional materials, electronic materials, coating materials, food ingredients, and medication- and agrichemicals-related products.

Overview
In the Functional Chemicals Division, we are engaged in businesses across diverse industries and our involvement in downstream industries is growing. In particular, we are focusing our efforts on strengthening operations in business areas that are expected to grow due to changes in the needs of society and consumers. Targeted sectors include commodity resins, functional resins, and functional materials. Our business investments focus on the needs of a wide range of markets and include manufacture and sales of resin compounds in North America and production of the functional food ingredients and hydrogen peroxide in Japan.
Strategy
- Seize investment opportunities overseas in the expanding industry encompassing raw materials and material processing, and vigorously promote overseas investment with partners who possess technological strengths.
- Strengthen the value chain so that it can respond better to customer needs and thus respond to the globalization of demand.
- Provide finely-tuned responses to a range of needs in the broadening fields of demand by strengthening marketing functionality using the international and domestic capability of the entire MC group.
