Exportadora de Sal, S.A. de C.V.

A joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation and Mexico's Fideicomiso de Fomento Minero (FFM) as its shareholders. ESSA's salt fields have a production capacity of approximately 7.5 million tons and produce salt using an environmentally-friendly method that utilizes solar energy to evaporate seawater.

Metanol de Oriente, METOR, S.A. (METOR)

There are great expectations placed on methanol not only as a raw material for petrochemical products but also for use in fuel cells. As a joint venture between Mitsubishi Corporation, Petróleos de Venezuela, SA (PDVSA), Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company and others, METOR produces methanol from inexpensive natural gas, which it primarily sells to Europe and America.

A joint venture between Indonesia and Japan that produces and sells ammonia. It started operations in February 2002 as a center for securing basic industrial raw materials.

Established in Greece as a joint venture with Tosoh Corporation to produce electrolytic manganese dioxide, a material used in dry cell batteries. Since starting operations in 1976, the company has maintained a position as one of the word's top manufacturers in terms of both quality and production capacity. Focusing primarily on the European market, it has become one of Greece's leading exporting companies.

UBE-MC Hydrogen peroxide Ltd.

A manufacturer of hydrogen peroxide jointly established by MC and Ube Industries, Ltd. in January 2008.
Hydrogen peroxide is an environmentally-friendly substance because it decomposes into water and oxygen. As such, it is under much focus for a variety of applications not only as a bleach for paper and pulp but also as a deodorant, disinfectant, antiseptic, etc.

In August 2007, Mitsubishi Corporation's business investments, Towa Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., MC Foodtech Co., Ltd. and Chuo Foods Material Co., Ltd. merged.
A crucial element of the new company's businesses is its research and development of food materials that meet client needs. The company is an integrated food and chemical company. Among the products it manufactures and sells are sugar alcohols such as sorbitol, maltitol and xylitol, seasoning for Korean kimchi basting, preservatives and improving agents, stabilizers such as those used in jelly and custard-type puddings, and functional materials that are used as ingredients for health foods.

MC-Towa International Sweeteners Co., Ltd.

A joint venture in Thailand with Mitsubishi Shoji Foodtech Co., Ltd., the company operates a manufacturing and sales business for the low calorie sweetener maltitol. Leveraging the locally supplied raw materials, the company produces highly-competitive sweeteners and supplies them to customers around the world for use in chewing gum, chocolate, and other sweets.

Pt. Sorini Towa Berlian Corporation

A joint venture between Mitsubishi Shoji Foodtech Co., Ltd., which is one of Mitsubishi Corporation's business investments, and PT. Sorini Corporation Tbk in Indonesia. The company uses locally procured materials to produce competitive products and provide a stable supply of sugar alcohol (sorbitol).

Liling Fine Chemicals Co., Ltd.

A contract manufacturing company for fine chemicals established in October 2004 in Changshu City, Jiangsu Province, China.
Since December 2005, the company has been contract manufacturing fine chemicals at its multipurpose organic synthesis plant focusing on the pharmaceutical and agrochemical fields.

BML Life Science Holdings Corp.

A holding company jointly established by MC and BML, Inc., a large clinical testing firm, in February 2007. Under a joint venture platform, the holding company engages in the food hygiene testing business, an area of increasing interest by consumers.

Saudi Petrochemical Project Unit

SPDC Ltd.

SPDC is the company providing Japan's side of investment in Eastern Petrochemical Co. (SHARQ), a Saudi Arabian petrochemical operation that has been producing polyethylene (PE) and ethylene glycol (EG) in Saudi Arabia since 1985.
SHARQ is continuing to maintain stable operations through using Saudi Arabia's inexpensive natural gas as a raw material. The first expansion of SHARQ was completed in 1995, the second expansion was completed in 2001, and the third expansion was completed at the end of 2009. Through such facility expansion, SHARQ has increased its capacity to 1,550,000 tons of PE and 1,375,000 tons of EG which is one of the world's largest in scale.
