In August 2008, MC combined five subsidiaries engaged in the domestic manufacture and sale of fertilizer to establish MC FERTICOM Co., Ltd. The new company, as one of MC's operating subsidiary in the fertilizer business, aims to contribute what it can to the development of Japan's agribusiness through its activities in the agricultural materials field by meeting the needs of the diverse fertilizer market and agricultural sites, and providing "safe, competitive and high-quality fertilizer products" as well as "fertilizing and technological guidance to create the added-value of farm produce".

MC purchased 49% stake in Kemira-Ube, Ltd. reestablishing (renaming) it as UBE-MC Hydrogen Peroxide Ltd. in January 2008 as a hydrogen peroxide joint venture with Ube Industries, Ltd. In response to the domestic paper and pulp industry's promotion of ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free) paper, the company will ensure a steady supply of hydrogen peroxide, an ingredient necessary for paper and pulp bleaching whose supply-demand balance continues to narrow, and further strengthen its product lineup and sales efforts with respect to the paper and pulp industry.
