Global Gas Unit

Major Activities

Construction of LNG trade flow incorporating trading, adjustment of demand and supply, and development of new markets

Overview

The Global Gas Unit operates in the international LNG market, which is characterized by tremendous movement and change. The unit conducts trading, and it is developing the business of constructing a mid- to long-term trade flow. Such a trade flow, which is free from the traditional LNG business framework, entails the construction of a series of links that covers the purchase and sale of LNG for all global players as well as transportation to the end user. We are able to adjust to demand and supply to rapidly cater to market needs and quickly respond to the changing environment.

By obtaining usage rights of the Freeport LNG receiving terminal in Texas in the U.S., we have secured an outlet in North America. In addition, via a joint-venture business investment that we share with a Japanese electric power company, we are steadily expanding the value chain such as through long-term flexible sales of Oman-produced LNG. While maintaining a close relationship with major gas producing countries, we also focus on developing our business in new emerging markets such as South Asia and South America. By actively addressing the needs of both suppliers and users, we aim to create a new LNG flow and expand the LNG business portfolio.
