Western Australia LNG Import Service Co., Ltd.(WALISCO)

In partnership with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and Nippon Oil Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) has been involved in the North West Shelf (NWS) Project through various activities–sales campaigns targeting Japanese customers, negotiations over sales contract content, sales contract signings, preparations for LNG deliveries, and marketing activities.

In 1989, upon the commencement of import and delivery of LNG, the three companies jointly established Western Australia LNG Import Service Co. Ltd. (WALISCO). The company was charged with carrying out operations concerning the import of LNG to Japan to be sold to eight utility companies (Interest in the company is broken down as follows; MC 45.83%, Mitsui & Co., Ltd. 45.83%, Nippon Oil Corporation 8.34%). On behalf of the Japanese customers, WALISCO observes delivery of LNG and does custom clearance and settlement. It also functions as the liaison office between the buyers and the sellers of LNG. Based in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Hiroshima and Fukuoka, WALISCO has been attending to the needs of its customers for these 15 years.
