Paper products (including papers for printing and information), paperboard (including corrugated containerboard and white paperboard), packaging materials (including food packaging), raw materials for paper (including woodchips and pulp), printing and photosensitive materials, printing-related materials and equipment, lumber, construction and building materials, silica sand, kaolin clay, cement and cement products, ready-mix concrete, tires, industrial rubber materials, air conditioners, and so forth.
Overview
The General Merchandise Division has three core businesses. One is the paper-related business, which includes afforestation, woodchips, pulp, paper products, and packaging materials. The other two are the housing and construction materials-related business, which includes cement, silica sand, kaolin clay, and lumber; and the lifestyle materials-related business, which handles tires, industrial rubber materials and other products. The global demand for paper, cement and tires, key products handled by this division, is forecasted to continue growing by between 2% and 4% per year. For this reason, the company sees sufficient potential to grow its business over the medium and long terms.

The General Merchandise Division aims to thoroughly strengthen core businesses, increase the corporate value of business investees, develop and utilize its people, and create new businesses. Steady execution of these and other measures will ensure its sustained growth.
