MCLS Asia Co., Ltd.(MCLA) was established in Thailand in 2003 as a maltitol producer under MC's subsidiary Mitsubishi Corporation Life Sciences, which develops MC's food chemicals business. MCLA is expanding its business mainly with confectionary makers, both in Japan and around the world, and developing globally competitive polyol operations.

In Thailand, MCLA produces maltitol made from competitive, locally sourced raw materials, tapioca starch and supplies it to food makers globally. Maltitol is a sugar free polyol that is almost as sweet as sugar at half its calories, and can be used for a wide variety of foods and pharmaceuticals, including tabletop sweeteners, confectioneries, and health foods.
