Global Environmental & Infrastructure Business Group:New Energy & Power Generation Division

At the New Energy & Power Generation Division, we strive to create environmental added value while contributing to the building of electricity infrastructure around the world by developing power generation and transmission businesses and trading power generation and transmission plants.

The power generation business constructs and owns power generation facilities, and sells the electricity it generates to electricity companies, electricity wholesale markets, or other customers mostly. We generate electricity using thermal power and renewable energy worldwide, and are also engaged in on-site (inside-the-fence) power generation and electricity retailing business in Japan whereby we install power generation systems within the premises of customers' sites to supply electricity and steam.

The power transmission business plays an indispensable role in realizing a low-carbon society. It transmits power generated by offshore wind farms that are being actively developed in various European countries to land-based users.

For domestic and overseas customers, we supply and build high-efficiency, cutting-edge thermal power plants and nuclear power plants, power transmission and transformer facilities and facilities that help reduce environmental impact.

Strategy

In light of major changes taking place in the power business environment worldwide, our focus is on developing new projects in renewable energy such as solar, wind and geothermal power, while optimizing our business portfolio and contributing to the realization of a low-carbon society. We are also seeking to expand business in the gas to power segment by further optimizing our value chain from upstream natural gas/LNG to the downstream wholesale power market through alliances with upstream partners.
