Roadmap to a Carbon Neutral Society
Today, there is an urgent need for decarbonization initiatives in response to global climate change.
The Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) Group will continue to fulfill its responsibility as an active player in industries including resources and energy by maintaining a stable supply of energy, such as natural gas, while working to achieve a carbon neutral society.
Greenhouse Gas (GHG)
Reduction Targets
Halve by
FY2020
(FY2020 baseline)
We will utilize every means available to halve our GHG emissions, including by replacing assets, switching operations to renewable energy and alternative fuels, and achieving energy savings through digital transformation.
Greenhouse Gas (GHG)
Reduction Targets
Net Zero by
2030
We aim to achieve net zero GHG emissions by leveraging our global network and diverse presence across a wide range of industries to drive industrial transformation, as well as by embracing new technologies and innovation.
- *1The above figures represent Scope 1, 2, and 3 (Category 15) based on the financial control approach. (For details on the calculation method, please refer to the "Sustainability Website.")
- *2 FY2020 is set as the new baseline, as it provides the most accurate affiliate data that was previously unavailable, e.g. Scope 2 market-based method emissions.
- *3 In the event that emissions reduction targets are not able to be achieved despite active reduction efforts, we will consider offsetting residual emissions through internationally recognized methods including carbon removal (e.g., carbon credits).

Integrated Initiatives

Energy
Transformation
We will actively pursue initiatives to double renewable power capacity and create supply chains for hydrogen/ammonia and other next-generation energy sources.
Digital
Transformation
In industrial fields, we will achieve energy savings and waste reduction through supply chain optimization while simultaneously enhancing industry competitiveness. We will also provide integrated services, tailored to the lifestyles and life stages of individuals and households, by connecting data from various domains.

We believe that an integrated approach to EX and DX is necessary to achieve a carbon neutral society.
By combining our industry knowledge with EX/DX, we aim to address various issues to achieve a society that is both highly productive and environmentally-friendly, as well as to create regional communities and smart cities that are both vibrant and disaster-resilient.
