SRIs and Corporate Rankings

MC is committed to communicating our efforts to create Sustainable Corporate Value to our various stakeholders around the world. A key indicator of our success in these efforts is recognition from Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) Indices and other external stakeholders.

MC has participated in CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) since 2003.
CDPs hold the largest collection globally of self-reported climate change, water and forest-risk data.
Through its global system companies, investors and cities are better able to mitigate risk, capitalize on opportunities and make investment decisions that drive action towards a more sustainable world.

CDP Climate Change evaluates how companies are responding to the risks and opportunities associated with climate change.
In FY2017, MC received a score of B.
• CDP Water
CDP Water evaluates companies' water stewardship efforts.
In FY2017, MC received a score of B.
• CDP Forest
CDP Forests evaluates how companies are managing the risks associated with deforestation in their supply chain.
In FY2017, MC received a score of B.

MC is currently listed on the MS-SRI Index offered through MorningStar in Japan.
In addition to financial criteria, MS-SRI ranks companies based on sustainability factors including corporate governance, environment, society and human resource management.

Awards and Recognitions

Since 2004, RobecoSAM lists the world's most sustainable companies in each industry in the Sustainability Yearbook based on the results of their annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment.
In FY2017, MC received the Bronze Class distinction for excellent sustainability performance.
