MC is committed to communicating our efforts to create Sustainable Corporate Value to our various stakeholders around the world. A key indicator of our success in these efforts is recognition from Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) Indices and other external stakeholders.

FTSE4 Good
FTSE Blossom Japan

MC has been included in the FTSE4Good Index Series and the FTSE Blossom Japan Index, both provided by FTSE Russell*, as of June 2018.
Both indices are used by a wide variety of investors as a reference to evaluate the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance of companies.
Furthermore, the FTSE Blossom Japan Index is one of the ESG indices selected by Japan's Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) for Japanese equities.

CDP DRIVING SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIES

MC has participated in CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) since 2003.
CDPs hold the largest collection globally of self-reported climate change, water and forest-risk data.
Through its global system companies, investors and cities are better able to mitigate risk, capitalize on opportunities and make investment decisions that drive action towards a more sustainable world.

CDP Climate Change evaluates how companies are responding to the risks and opportunities associated with climate change.
In FY2017, MC received a score of B.
• CDP Water
CDP Water evaluates companies' water stewardship efforts.
In FY2017, MC received a score of B.
• CDP Forest
CDP Forests evaluates how companies are managing the risks associated with deforestation in their supply chain.
In FY2017, MC received a score of B.

MS-SRI

MC is currently listed on the MS-SRI Index offered through MorningStar in Japan.
In addition to financial criteria, MS-SRI ranks companies based on sustainability factors including corporate governance, environment, society and human resource management.

Awards and Recognitions

ROBECOSAM Sustainability Award Bronze Class 2017

Since 2004, RobecoSAM lists the world's most sustainable companies in each industry in the Sustainability Yearbook based on the results of their annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment.
In FY2017, MC received the Bronze Class distinction for excellent sustainability performance.
