Acumen Academy
Acumen is changing the way the world tackles poverty by investing in companies, leaders and ideas. The organisation invests philanthropic capital to invest in and support inclusive businesses bringing goods, services, and income-generating opportunities to low-income communities across Africa, Latin America, South Asia and the United States; since its founding in 2001, Acumen has invested more than $128 million in 128 companies.
Acumen Academy is also developing a global community of emerging leaders with the knowledge, skills and determination to create a more inclusive world. The Acumen Fellows programme is designed to provide skills, knowledge and networks to these leaders across stakeholder groups, in order to strengthen their moral imagination and ability to drive change in favor of the most vulnerable.
Since 2019, the MCFEA has been supporting the Acumen Fellows programme in West Africa, developing leaders who are tackling poverty and injustice across the region. In 2020, the MCFEA also started a partnership with the Acumen Academy UK, focused on launching the Acumen Fellows programme in the United Kingdom in order to empower role models who are tackling injustice and bridging divides. In both West Africa and the UK, Acumen Academy exists to build leaders who have the character, capabilities and communities to create a society that works for all.
