African Leadership Academy

African Leadership Academy exists to develop a new generation of ethical, entrepreneurial leaders equipped to drive transformative change across the continent. Since opening its doors in 2008, ALA has identified exceptional young people from 47 African countries, providing rigorous leadership training, real-world problem-solving experience, and access to powerful global networks. With over 40,000 applicants and 1,771 students enrolled - 95% of whom receive financial aid - ALA has built a diverse, gender-balanced community committed to impact. ALA Alumni have earned $250 million in scholarships to 314 institutions worldwide, achieved a 96% employment rate within a year of graduation, and launched more than 500 ventures creating over 1,200 jobs. 78% of ALA Alumni remain actively engaged on the African continent.
