Contribution to Stable Energy Supply

About LNG Business

The demand of the natural gas (LNG) which has lower environmental impact is expected to increase steadily, so we are expanding the business to participate in the overall value chain. Korea is the third largest country to import LNG following Japan and China. We are also building relationships with KOGAS and other LNG direct importers like private IPP companies & KEPCO’s subsidiaries.

DSLNG Project

Mitsubishi Corporation and KOGAS developed Donggi-Senoro LNG (DSLNG) project, it has been operating well together.
※ Mitsubishi Corporation and KOGAS established a joint venture called Sulaweshi LNG Development, and is leading the business with a 59.9% stake in DSLNG share.

LNG Canada Project

Mitsubishi Corporation, Shell, Petronas, Petro China, and KOGAS, participating as a business partner are establishing the site to start its operation in 2025, with the final investment decision (FID) in October, 2018. The project will establish a facility with 14 million tons of LNG production capacity annually in the Port Kitimat on the west coast of Canada to supply LNG mainly in Asia.

About Next Generation Energy Business

With the aim of contributing to a net-zero society, all aspects of next-generation energy businesses through the entire supply chain from production, transportation, infrastructure construction and sales of related products are being addressed. In particular, fuel ammonia for co-firing with coal to reduce CO2 emissions and e-Methane that can be directly utilized in LNG infrastructure are the focus area in securing and expanding production bases in the United States. Additionally, the establishment of a blue hydrogen (hydrogen extracted from LNG with CO2 separation treatment) production system in various locations are being considered together with commercialization of alternative hydrogen carriers such as Methylcyclohexane (MCH), the development of the carbon credit market, and investments in next-generation energy related technologies and companies.

About Petroleum Product Business

Amidst the ongoing consolidation of domestic oil refineries in Japan, petroleum products such as kerosene, diesel, heavy oil, and asphalt exported from South Korea have become indispensable and essential commodities for Japanese consumers. With the customer base owning where approximately 1,000 gasoline stations under our control throughout Japan, such transaction are made in view of the supply-demand adjustments.
Furthermore, the business development, securing materials for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and bio-bunker fuel are being explored toward the realization of carbon neutrality.

About Power Plant and Infrastructure Business

Exploiting our strong partnerships with Korean companies, we are actively engaged in various fields of infrastructure, including EPC projects such as power plants construction in countries other than Korea and Japan, related industrial machinery and marine vessels. We also provide tailored services and solutions that meet customer needs, including renewable energy projects, data centers, battery businesses.
