The Mitsubishi Corporation Global Coral Reef Preservation Project Approved as a Partnership Project by the Japan Committee of the United Nations Decade of Biodiversity (UNDB-J)

Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) began our Global Coral Reef Conservation Project in fiscal year 2005 with the aim of contributing to the preservation of coral reefs from various perspectives. In addition to providing financial support to research organizations, the Project also recruits volunteers from both inside and outside of MC to participate in the research activities firsthand in order to deepen their understanding of environmental issues. The Project is currently conducted in 3 locations: Okinawa, the Seychelles and Australia.
We are pleased to announce that MC’s Global Coral Reef Conservation Project has been approved as a partnership project by the Japan Committee for the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity (UNDB-J). We will continue to do our part in order to contribute to the preservation of the global environment.

The United Nations has designated the ten-year period from 2011 to 2020 as the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity. The UNDB-J was established with the goal of encouraging the participation and partnership across all sectors in Japan to promote the preservation of biodiversity and the sustainable use of resources in line with the Aichi Biodiversity Targets. These targets were adopted at the 10th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 10) which was held in Nagoya in 2010.
