Generating Sustainable Economic Alternatives to the Buffer Zone of the Mache Chindul Ecological Reserve, Ecuador

On July 22, a ceremony was held at Mitsubishi Corporation Quito Branch in Ecuador with the Trade for Development Foundation (COPADE) to commemorate the project, “Generating Sustainable Economic Alternatives to the Buffer Zone of the Mache Chindul Ecological Reserve”.
Due to a lack of government aid, environmental pollution is progressing rapidly and affecting crop yields which are a valuable source of income for the local communities. Through this project, we aim to promote native bamboo production to help generate economic revenue from sustainable and resilient construction.

Reception of Beijing Center for Japane Studies, China

On June 7, a welcome reception was held in Tokyo, for 38 master and doctoral students from the Beijing Center for Japanese Studies who were in Japan to conduct research at Japanese universities. The students will be enrolled in universities across Japan for 4 to 6 months based on their field of study in order to conduct research for their dissertations and experience living in Japan. About 100 people gathered at the reception and heard the aspirations and experiences from the students. Mitsubishi Corporation has long supported Japanese language education at the Center, and in an effort to help develop the next generation of leaders.

Japan Association for the World Food Program Charity Walk: 'Walk the World'

The Japan Association for the World Food Program* hosted a charity walk event, 'Walk the World for Africa', at Yokohama Minato Mirai area on May 12, 2019. A record high 5,003 people, including 74 participants from Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) and MC Group Company employees and families, joined the charity walk.
Participants, ranging from adults to children, enjoyed a leisurely 3-10km walk along Yokohama's scenic Minato-Mirai Bay, and in doing so made a significant contribution towards the organization's aim of raising funds to end hunger and provide school meals for children in need. The Charity Walk started in 2005, and MC has been supporting the organization since 2010.

Support of Mentorship Program for Female Heads of Household in Iraq

On April 25, the graduation ceremony was held for the vocational training programs for female heads of household in Basra, one of the most deprived regions of Iraq. About 80% of the women in Iraq are unemployed, and many women who have been widowed by the calamity of the past war and violence, face economic difficulties as a single parent. The training programs for English, IT, sewing and hairdressing were started in September 2018, with 120 participants. Mitsubishi Corporation supports empowerment of women in Iraq, where recovery is underway.

Supporting Educational Improvement Among Low Income Youths, Argentina

On April 12, a ceremony was held in Santiago del Estero Province, Argentina to recognize Mitsubishi Corporation’s support to improve the level of education among youths in the region. Through this project, an existent library was remodeled and workshops on IT, leadership skills, and academic support of school education will be provided to children and youths to improve the education level of the community.
