World Resources Institute

World Resources Institute (WRI) is a global research organisation that spans more than 60 countries with over 1000 experts and staff members. WRI’s mission is to move human society to live in ways that protect Earth’s environment and its capacity to provide for the needs and aspirations of current and future generations.

WRI focuses on seven urgent global challenges that must be addressed to reduce poverty, grow economies and protect natural systems: climate, energy, food, forests, water, sustainable cities, and the ocean.

In 2020, the MCFEA launched a partnership with WRI’s Global Restoration Initiative to support the project “the Land Accelerator – Entrepreneur Innovation Grants”. Through a first-of-its-kind four-month training program, the Land Accelerator identifies, empowers, and invests in African entrepreneurs who take a commercial approach to restoring forests and farmlands.
