Mitsubishi Corporation International Scholarship for Studies in Japan Exchange Event

In 1991, Mitsubishi Corporation started a scholarship program to support international students attending universities in Japan. This year, MC is supporting 101 international students from 41 countries, representing 53 universities across Japan.

On October 23, the scholarship students were invited to an online exchange event.

They deepened their understanding of MC, and in the group discussion, they talked about the reason why they chose Japan as their study destination and their thoughts and experience regarding the Covid-19 Pandemic.

It was a good opportunity to deepen ties with other scholars under the current circumstances.

Support to Emerging Aboriginal Stewards, Canada

Since 2018, Mitsubishi Corporation has supported the Aboriginal Youth Program (SEAS) in British Columbia and the Northern Territories of Canada.

In 2019, in addition to the 22 youth leaders who participated in this summer internship, approximately 420 students and local residents raised their awareness of nature and traditional culture protection through outdoor activities and traditional events with local experts.

Through this support, MC is making a significant contribution to forming the next generation of conservation leaders in the region.

Support to the Agricultural Training Project in Saline and Arid Area, Mexico

On March 2nd, a ceremony was held to commemorate Mitsubishi Corporation’s donation to the agricultural training project and inaugurate the facilities at Guerrero Negro Branch of CIBNOR (The Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas del Noroeste S.C.), Mexico. Because the region is a saline and arid area, agricultural products cannot be produced locally, so the supply of fresh agricultural food represents a problem.

Through this project, MC is supporting the agricultural training using small-scale horticulture systems appropriate for this area in an effort to help the area become self-sufficient.

Support to the Job Training Program for the Local Community of Aysén Region, Chile

On January 27th, the completion ceremony of Technological Equipment Center in Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh) was held at the UACh Patagonia Campus in the Aysén Region of southern Chile. Because of the lack of job skills, many of the local people are only able to engage in simple manual labor jobs, such as chopping wood, resulting in a relatively lower standard of living despite many active industries in the area. Mitsubishi Corporation supports the job training programs for necessary skills in the salmon and the construction industry, and have provided the training equipment to the Center. Mitsubishi Chile Limitada staff also attended the ceremony and communicated with university students and other participants. We hope that the program will help upgrade the living standards for the people in the region.
