Six Months Until GREEN×EXPO 2027 – Experience the Ride at Mitsubishi Minnano Miraikan!

Just six months remain until GREEN×EXPO 2027 (International Horticultural Expo 2027, Yokohama, Japan) opens in March 2027. It marks the first time an international horticultural expo will be held in the Tokyo metropolitan area (Tokyo and three surrounding prefectures). Details of the exhibits and attractions at the pavilion being presented by Mitsubishi group companies have now been announced.

GREEN×EXPO 2027 is the first A1-class international horticultural expo to be held in Japan in 37 years. It will take place at the Former Kamiseya Communications Facility in Yokohama and feature 10 million flowers and plants. Located in the venue’s Urban GX Village, the Mitsubishi Pavilion, named “Mitsubishi Minnano Miraikan*,” will be presented under the theme “Everyone Together, for a Planet of Abundance.”

* The Japanese name “Mitsubishi Miraikan” (literally, “Mitsubishi Future Pavilion”) has been in continuous use since the Japan World Exposition, Osaka 1970. For this expo, the name has been expanded to “Mitsubishi Minnano Miraikan,” with “Minnano” meaning “everyone’s.” The new name expresses the concept of “Everyone together, creating happiness for tomorrow.”

The centerpiece is “Find the Seeds for the Future,” an educational exhibit that takes visitors on a ride through the pavilion. Visitors enter an immersive environment where they encounter the richness of nature across sea, land, and sky, accompanied by Hisaya Iwasaki, Mitsubishi’s third president, who appears as a CG-animated guide, and MeNA, the pavilion’s attendant character. Developed in collaboration with Tanseisha, the company overseeing the spatial design, the attraction offers an “edutainment” experience combining education with entertainment.

Mitsubishi group companies share the Three Principles as their common management philosophy. One of these, “Corporate Responsibility to Society,” calls on them to “strive to enrich society, both materially and spiritually, while contributing towards the preservation of the global environment.” Participating in every expo held in Japan since Expo ’70 in Osaka is one of the ways the companies have shared this message.

Some of the wood from the Mitsubishi Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan is being reused as part of the exterior of Mitsubishi Minnano Miraikan. The pavilion aims to be a place where everyone can have fun while finding their own “seeds for the future.”

Mitsubishi Australia Celebrates 70th Anniversary

On August 20, Mitsubishi Australia Ltd. (MAL) held a ceremony to mark its 70th anniversary at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) in Melbourne. Approximately 200 people attended, including government officials, members of the business community, customers and partners, and representatives of the Mitsubishi Corporation Group. The event provided an opportunity for MAL to express its appreciation to Australian society and its many stakeholders and further strengthen these relationships for the future.

MAL was established in 1956 as Mitsubishi Corporation’s local subsidiary in Australia. What began with wool trading expanded as the Mitsubishi Corporation Group pursued trade and business investment across a wide range of sectors in Australia, including steelmaking coal, silica sand, natural gas, food, and automobiles. Serving as the foundation for these activities, MAL has contributed to the development of industry and local communities in Australia over the decades.

The ceremony featured speeches by executives from MAL and Mitsubishi Corporation, as well as the Japanese Ambassador to Australia. There was also a joint performance of the Australian didgeridoo and Japanese taiko drums, symbolizing the longstanding friendship between Japan and Australia. In addition, video messages were shared from Yasutoshi Nishimura, Member of the House of Representatives of Japan and Vice Chairperson of Japan-Australia Parliamentary Friendship Association, and Madeleine King, Federal Minister for Resources and for Northern Australia.

In his remarks, Dan Cronin, who was appointed MAL’s Managing Director & CEO earlier this year, emphasized that the company’s continued growth over the past 70 years is the result of taking the long-term view and building strong partnerships with its many stakeholders. He also expressed his gratitude for the way MAL has grown in step with Australian society and affirmed the company’s commitment to creating new value as a trusted partner in the years ahead.

New Website Launched to Highlight the Appeal of Places Connected to Mitsubishi’s History

In August 2026, a new website called “ikoi/place” was launched to offer a fresh perspective on the appeal of places connected to Mitsubishi and the Iwasaki family. In addition to introducing them as locations where visitors can learn about the history of Mitsubishi and the successive presidents from the Iwasaki family, the website also highlights the landscapes found there and the stories passed down over the years, presenting them as destinations where people can find their own “place of peace.”

The website was launched as a special section of the Mitsubishi Official Site. It currently features six locations associated with Hisaya Iwasaki, Mitsubishi’s third president. Hisaya will appear in CG animation as a “navigator” at the Mitsubishi Pavilion at GREEN×EXPO 2027 (International Horticultural Expo 2027, Yokohama, Japan), which opens in Yokohama in March 2027. The website plans to add more locations over time.

In October 2026, the website also launched an interactive quiz that uses answers to a few questions to recommend Mitsubishi-related destinations suited to the user’s current mood, along with things to do and see there. Depending on the answers, the quiz may lead users to different scenery and experiences at the same destination, helping them discover a new “place of peace” to suit the moment.
