Supporting Employees with Childcare, Family Care and Other Family Responsibilities

Creating an Environment where Everyone can Continue to Work with Peace of Mind

In an effort to support employees who work while raising children or caring for their family members, MC is expanding its childcare and family care systems, while at the same time promoting a company-wide understanding of those systems and creating an environment where everyone can easily access them.

Childrearing Support

Children are future leaders who will usher in the next generation, and the act of creating an environment where employees can give birth to children with peace of mind and engage in childcare is an important role that companies should fulfill. MC aims to help employees throughout the entire company achieve a balance between childbirth, childcare, and work, which is why MC is expanding various systems that can be used by both men and women.

Maternity and Child Care Systems
Establishment of “MC Child Care Concierge” within the Global HR Dept To support employees in returning to work from Maternity / Paternity Leave free of worry, MC established a “Child Care Concierge” within its Global HR Department. The Concierge provides employees with information on daycare facilities, babysitters, services for children to continue their studies after regular school hours, and more. It also provides consultations on children's illnesses and other concerns that parenting employees may have on raising children.
Children's Daycare Facilities & Services MC has secured the services of a nearby daycare facility and a specialist children facility for unwell children so that employees can return to work free of worry. Furthermore, since the summer of 2015, MC has been providing its “MC Gakudo” service for elementary school-age children. This is an outsourced service that provides day camps for children during their schools' long vacation periods.
Establishment of “Paid School Events Leave,” Extension of Flex-time Work Period, and establishment of Telecommuting (Working from Home) MC has established a “Paid School Events Leave,” which allows employees to take time off to attend official school and daycare events, such as entrance and graduation ceremonies. MC has also extended the effective period of its staggered work hours and flex-time systems up to year six of Japanese elementary school. Furthermore, MC has been supporting working mothers and fathers to balance work and child care by introducing the option of telecommuting.
Career Support MC offers career support that takes into consideration significant life events such as childbirth and child care. MC provides opportunities for employees who are either currently on Maternity Leave or who plan to take it in the near future to learn about MC's relevant systems and policies, as well as to speak with experienced working mothers. These consultations are effective in preparing employees for what to expect when returning to work.
Encouraging Workstyle Diversity and Work-Life-Balance MC distributed “Child Care Support Handbook” and “Family Care Support Handbook” to all employees. The handbooks include not only explanations on all of MC's child care and family care systems and policies, and also provide specific advice to parents, caretakers, bosses and colleagues on how to improve communication at the office. MC also provides regular guidance to employees in management-level positions.
